George Watts – Treasurer

When did you join Wetherby Musical Theatre Group?

I joined WMTG in 1995.

Why did you join Wetherby Musical Theatre Group?

My youngest son, Sam, wanted to join WMTG Youth Group back in the mid 1990’s so I was dropping him off and picking him up after the meetings.  Initially I was helping with set building and backstage during shows.  Having been a member of a theatre group in Kent during the 60s I soon caught the bug again and joined the group.  Initially I was stage crew, then did some stage management.  I joined the Committee in 1995 and took over the post of Treasurer.  In 2000 I became the group’s Sound Engineer, a function I did for a group in Kent in the 60s.

What’s your earliest memory of Wetherby Musical Theatre Group?

Helping backstage for the Youth Groups production of Bugsy Malone.

What has been your favourite show you have seen/been in?

My Fair Lady

What has been your favourite memory so far?

Stage managing the Youth Group production of Half A Sixpence when my son had the role of Kipps.  In one scene in one show the cat (real) that Sam was holding stole the show by meowing into Sam’s microphone.  Sam tried in vain to get the cat to do the same in every show.

What show would you like to see the group put on in the future?

Chicago
