Welcome to Wetherby Musical Theatre Group

We are an amateur musical theatre and drama group, based in Wetherby, West Yorkshire. We love performing, whether that is a musical, straight play, or a mix of everything in a cabaret. We perform shows for Wetherby and the surrounding areas.

We aim to perform one major musical and one pantomime / smaller show each year. We also organise numerous fundraising events and social evenings throughout the year.

Our regular rehearsal venue is at Deighton Gates School.

We are always looking to recruit new members, young and old, to perform on stage or help out backstage.

We’re incredibly excited that tickets for our next show, Breezeblock Park, are on sale now!

Written by Willy Russell (the writer of Educating Rita and Blood Brothers), Breezeblock Park is a comedy set in the 1970s. Superior council house dwellers Betty, Reeny, Vera, and their men regard themselves as a close-knit family team despite their concealed jealousies and occasional recriminations. When Betty’s daughter Sandra announces she is pregnant and intends to live unmarried with her student lover, the news explodes like an atom bomb.

We’re also very excited that our Director will be Jim Bower, who made his directorial debut with our production of the amazing Calendar Girls in 2023.

Be sure to visit the Breezeblock Park page for the cast and audition information.

Guys & Dolls

Can you believe our group is nearly 50 years old? We launched our very first show in 1975, the wonderful Guys & Dolls. To celebrate, we’re bringing it back and putting a modern twist on it. Inspired by the recent West End run, we’re taking the fantastic musical to The Engine Shed and performing it in the round.

Tickets will be on sale soon!

WMTG at Wetherby Bandstand

We’ll be performing at the Wetherby Bandstand on Saturday 24 May between 2:30pm – 4:30pm. We’ll be singing a range of musical numbers and doing some fundraising. This will be your first chance of buying tickets for Guys and Dolls too, before they go on general sale!

We hope to see you there.
