Welcome to Wetherby Musical Theatre Group

We are an amateur musical theatre and drama group, based in Wetherby, West Yorkshire. As a group, we love performing, whether that is a musical, straight play, or a mix of everything in a cabaret. We perform shows for Wetherby and the surrounding areas.

Our aim to perform one major musical and one pantomime / smaller show each year. We also organise numerous fundraising events and social evenings throughout the year.

Our regular rehearsal venue is at Deighton Gates School.

We are always looking to recruit new members, young and old, to perform on stage or help out backstage.

Singin’ in the Rain – Our Next Musical – Feb 2027 – SIGN UP TO AUDITION NOW

We’re unbelievably excited to announce that our next musical will be the absolute classic, Singin’ in the Rain!

It has all the makings of a Tinseltown tabloid headline – the starlet, the leading man and a love affair that could change lives and make or break careers! In silent movies, Don Lockwood and Lina Lamont are a hot item, but behind the scenes things aren’t always as they appear on the big screen! Meanwhile, Lina’s squeaky voice might be the end of her career in “talking pictures” without the help of a talented young actress to do the talking and singing for her.

We’ll be returning to the wonderful The Engine Shed to perform the show during February half-term (16-19 Feb 2027).

Open auditions will be taking place on 22 and 29 March 2026.

We’d love you to join us, the show is open to everyone, and there’s no audition required to join the chorus!

If you are interested in being a part of the show (ensemble or auditonees), please fill in our sign up form.

*No tap dancing experience required to be in the show!

Guys and Dolls

Can you believe our group is 50 years old? We launched our very first show in 1975, the wonderful Guys and Dolls. To celebrate, we brought it back and put a modern twist on it. Inspired by the recent West End run, we took the fantastic musical to The Engine Shed and performed it in the round.
