When did you join Wetherby Musical Theatre Group?
I joined WMTG in 1984 and my first show was Calamity Jane in 1985 – where I did a small dance routine with Elsie Johnson and Linda Brown.
Why did you join Wetherby Musical Theatre Group?
My reason for joining was to carry on doing some dancing and be part of the dance troupe that the group had back in the 1980’s. I had always enjoyed going to see musical theatre shows as a young girl with my mum and had watched many of WMTG shows prior to joining. It was my mum that encouraged me to join.
What’s your earliest memory of Wetherby Musical Theatre Group?
My earliest memory of WMTG was to going to see them perform the musical “salad days” and there was Colin Gaden appearing as a mini superman in a pair if underpants – I thought he was brilliant.
What has been your favourite show you have seen/been in?
My favourite show that I have been to see is Blood Brothers – I saw an original touring production at Bradford with a group of us from WMTG and could not stop crying at the end -have loved it ever since. Best show I have performed in was Fiddler on the Roof at Wetherby 1989 – a cast of over 70 people, a full orchestra and we sold out every night.
What has been your favourite memory so far?
I have loads of fantastic memories from being part of the group and met some amazing people but mostly I have made some wonder friendships over the 30 years.
What show would you like to see the group put on in the future?
The future of the group – I would like us to continue challenging ourselves and perform shows that are different because that is our strength – hopefully still be going to celebrate of 50th year.
