Cheshire Cats – Play Synopsis

A group of 6 women from Chester plan a ‘girlie’ weekend away in London, taking part in a 13 mile charity ‘Moonwalk’ in aid of an unspecified cancer charity. They name themselves ‘The Cheshire Cats’, and have a suitable (?) outfit to match their name.
We first meet them approximately one month before the event, as they finish off their training programme, under the ever-watchful eye of their Team Leader, Hilary.
Act 1 establishes their various character traits, and the various reasons they have for doing the walk – ranging from in memory of a lost relative to simply fancying a weekend away from men and responsibilities.
One of the women (unseen in the play) drops out at the last minute, and is replaced by the new ‘Toy Boy’ boyfriend of a team member – a fact which is dropped on them at Chester Railway Station as they are about to depart. The Toy Boy agrees to join the team, and to do the walk in drag – much to the disgust of at least one team member.
We follow ‘The Cheshire Cats’ as they travel to London, and throughout the walk. We share their adventures and encounters along the way, and their return to Chester – where some secrets are finally revealed
