The Retirement of George Watts

On Tuesday evening we said a very special thank you to our treasurer and friend George Watts. George will be moving down south to pastures new and to be closer to his family. Old and new members came along to raise a glass and listen to Bev Lynn’s retirement speech about George, which had us laughing and shedding a tear.

It will be very tricky to sum George up on one page but here are a few facts about him that you may not know:

George joined Wetherby Musical Theatre Group in the 1980’s.

He took on the role as temporary treasurer for the group in 1996.

In 2001, George began being in charge of the sound for our productions.

He has been involved with 37 shows.

During his time in the group, George has also been known to take on other rolls such as Production Manager and Stage Manager.

George has contributed to 20 Annual General Meetings.

It goes without saying that George has played a major role in the life of Wetherby Musical Theatre Group, for which we are extremely grateful and appreciative. We wish George all the best for his big move and would like to thank him again for his dedication and hard work over the years!
